ABOUT

Artist/Singer-Songwriter, Monique Smaz, is a proud St.Paul, Minnesota native, currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, writing and performing as an accomplished vocalist and guitarist, quickly becoming one of The Midwest's most sought after talents. Monique's music seamlessly blends the raw edge and grit of rock-and-roll with the heartfelt, soulful, storytelling and vulnerability of country music. Her sound resonates with listeners from all walks of life, offering a deep sense of connectedness and belonging, especially for those who may find themselves a bit adrift. She has performed to audiences at notable venues such as US Bank Stadium, Target Center, First Avenue, and at prestigious music events such as The Frank Brown Songwriters’ Festival. Monique's music has resonated far and wide, earning airtime on esteemed radio stations nationwide, including Minnesota favorites such as 102.9 The Wolf and 89.3 The Current, as well as SiriusXM Radio's The Highway/On The Horizon, where she was hailed as a 2023 “Highway Find”. Monique has shared stages with notable artists such as The War Hippies, Tenille Townes, Lauren Alaina, and Zach Bryan.

Monique's father, drummer Jack Smaz, passed away when she was young, leaving behind the most important parts of himself: his drive, passion, and love for music, which continues to be her biggest inspiration. Her music is also heavily influenced by the sounds, styles, and songwriting of Janis Joplin, Johnny Cash, Ashley McBryde, Gretchen Wilson, and Miranda Lambert. Now living in Nashville, TN, Monique has immersed herself in the city's rich tapestry of songwriting and recording with plans to continue writing songs, releasing music, and performing to audiences around the globe.
